The majority of our members are virtually housebound but some are so severely affected by ME that they are completely bed-bound and reliant upon members of their family and carers to provide the 24-hour care they so desperately need. This type of condition inevitably leads to the sufferer becoming very isolated and cut off from the rest of society.
Our support group helps to alleviate this isolation not only by providing practical and emotional support and advice but also by facilitating those members who are able to interact to take part in some of our special interest groups such as our Prayer Group, or access our Listening Ear Service and Disability Fund etc,
and by encouraging regular communication between members themselves via the group’s extensive Members’ Contact List. We also produce two lengthy newsletters per year along with a mailing in April which focuses on our annual ME Awareness campaign and have an extensive and informative website, all of which requires substantial running costs.
We receive no statutory funding for core running costs and are solely reliant upon members’ donations, and donations from private trust funds.
We are therefore desperately in need of funds at the present time. Many severely disabled people rely on our group and, from feedback we have received, we know the group makes such a difference to their lives. We fear that if the group could no longer be sustained, those very same people would be left even more isolated and without any form of support for their condition.
PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THEM BY MAKING A DONATION TO OUR GROUP. WHATEVER YOU CAN SPARE WILL HELP US TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE TO THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM THIS DEVASTATING ILLNESS.
