Member’s Fundraising Ideas

Cardiff Half-Marathon

We are very pleased to announce that group member Tiffany Aubrey, and Mum Judith, boldly took the step to enter the Cardiff PowerHouse Half-Marathon on September 28th. Their aim, in addition to raising awareness of the illness and its devastating effects on sufferers’ and their carers’ lives, was to raise money for ourselves and MERGE (ME Research Group for Education and Support) with each group receiving a 50/50 split on all funds raised!

With Judith pushing Tiffany the whole 13 miles in her wheelchair (Tiffany hopefully sporting the highly fashionable and sought after, one-off, original 25% ME Group T-shirt!!) on that cold Autumn morning, we can only imagine the sheer grit and determination that pushed them on during those 13 long and weary miles.

We would like to say a great big        Thank Youto both of you on behalf of the

25% ME GROUP & MERGE!

Fundraising Poem

25% Member, Gail McPartland, sent in this great fundraising idea. Gail decided to pen a special poem for fundraising purposes entitled "Imagine if you could help..." (Please click on the following link Imagine if you could help to view poem or see Members Poems Section, contained within Issue 16). Gail is using this poem herself to try to raise funds for the group by sending it along with some information about us to the college where she worked prior to becoming ill. If any other members would like copies of the poem along with group information to send out locally, please contact us in Troon and we will gladly supply the packs you need. You could ask friends and family to take the packs to their place of work, community groups, local churches and anywhere else you can think of. Good luck!

Fundraising Original Music CD

We have also received word about another great fundraising idea from Member Stuart Ledson. Stuart writes: “I am in the process of recording an original music CD, with approximately 4 tracks, to raise money for ME Charities. I am seeking any interested and talented graphic artists to submit any original paintings/artwork for the front and/or back CD cover or for within the CD booklet. CD should hopefully be recorded by Easter 2004, so any interested artists should aim to have work completed by then. Ideally paintings should be bright, colourful, positive and uplifting, with perhaps a spiritual overtone.

Fundraising Autographs

Group Member, Jessica Johnson, has also been hard at work collecting autographs from many celebrities, such as Russell Crowe, Sean Bean, John Travolta and many more. Jessica is continuing to add to this list at present and, hopefully, next year her collection can be auctioned through the Quarterly and the Website in order to raise funds for the Group.
